A principal who stripped a female Homa Bay County student naked for wearing mini skirt to school has been arrested by Kenya police.
The man is said to have summoned the 17 year-old girl to his office for allegedly wearing a miniskirt.
The Principal at Wayaga Secondary school in West kabuoch Homabay county is then said to have ordered the girl to remove her clothes.
According to The Star, witnesses claim that the girl declined to remove her clothes prompting the teacher to strip her as punishment.
The principal who has been missing for a week now, is then said to have sent the girl back to class in her panties.
However a female teacher at the school, reportedly covered the girl with a table cloth as she went to class.
Ndhiwa Officer Commanding Police Division (OCPD), Nixon Makokha, said then Principal had gone into hiding after the incident.
“We found the Principal hiding in his school after he instructed teachers and students to conceal his whereabouts,” Makokha said.
“We are going to take him to court soon where he will be charged with indecent assault.”
Standard Media Kenya reports that the unnamed Principal called the student out of her class into the office where he asked her to remove her clothes.
When she refused to obey, he stripped her down her pants.
He also allegedly refused to give her back her clothes, despite pleas from other teachers, and ordered her to return to class naked.
Female teachers had to cover the student with a table cloth.
Her father then reported the case at the police station.
“It is good to punish a student but this kind of punishment is against the rule of morality,” he said.
He also claimed that the offensive clothe was given to his daughter by the school.
“My daughter was given the school uniforms by the school management headed by the Principal,” he said.
“I was appalled when my daughter came back home with a tablecloth instead of her uniforms yet the uniform was given to the girl by the same teacher.
“He should not have given her the cloth if he was dissatisfied with the clothes.”
The police have said the Principal will be charged with indecent assault.
Over the years, Kenya has witnessed a number of incidences of women being stripped naked for indecent dressing.
