George Weah Continues To Lead Polls In Liberia's Election

 George Weah's Congress for Democratic Change (CDC)  continues to lead the provisional results of the presidential election in Liberia as the results are coming in from the second batch of votes as at today, 14th October , 2017 (10.37am, GMT +1).
Out of 5,390 polling places throughout the country, 1,817 have currently been processed, meaning 33.71 percent of the nation's votes has been processed. 
According to an update from the National Elections Commission (NEC), Weah remains ahead with 240,750 votes (39.6%), while Unity Party candidate, Vice President Joseph Boakai trails closely behind with 160,975 votes (31.1%).  
Liberty Party candidate, Charles Brumskine, obtained 48,219 votes (9.3%). 
Alternative National Congress (ANC) candidate, Alexander Cummings received34,550 votes (6.7%). 
Movement for Democracy and Reconstruction (MDR) candidate, Prince Johnson received 24,948 votes (4.8%).

Though there are 20 candidates in the presidential race, the winner has to obtain 50 percent or more of the total votes cast to avoid a run-off election.
