Adam
Moran could not put away the huge platter served up in the so-called
Breaking BadAss Challenge at Longhorns Barbeque Smokehouse in Newcastle
in under an hour.
The
meal includes beef brisket, beef ribs, smoked hog, a full rack of pork
ribs, a sausage, chicken wings and three bean chilli all served up with a
brioche bun, coleslaw and a large helping of chips.
Mr
Moran - who has completed Man Vs Food-style challenges around the UK -
was unable to manage the huge meal, which no one has yet been able to
finish.
Extreme eater Adam Moran is the latest challenger to fail to finish the so-called Breaking BadAss Challenge
He scoffed his way through chips beef
brisket, a full rack of pork ribs, a sausage, chicken wings and chips
but failed to finish a cup of bean chilli within an hour
The
29-year-old from Leeds, who wants to become a personal trainer, said:
'I gave the challenge my best shot, but the amount of food on the
platter just proved too much for me.
'It's
the worst way to lose a challenge, I still had room for desert at the
end, but ultimately it was the last pot of beans that defeated me.
'If I'd had an extra, five, maybe ten minutes, I might have done it, but tactics are important.
'Given I left the beans till last, leaving myself seven minutes to eat two pots, I think that's where I went wrong.'
Anyone
attempting to complete the £35 feast has to agree to a verbal
disclaimer, absolving the restaurant of any responsibility for personal
injury.
Eaters
who do get through all the meat have the price of the meal waivered and
their picture posted on the Newcastle restaurant's currently empty wall
of fame.
Mr
Moran, who weighs just over 11 stone, says he's always had an
insatiable appetite for food since an early age, but maintains a healthy
weight by going to the gym for two hours a day, six days a week.
No one has yet finished the huge meal, served for £35 at Longhorns Barbeque Smokehouse in Newcastle
Mr Moran, from Leeds, Yorkshire, is the latest challenger to try the 7,000-calorie meal and came very close
He said that if he had an extra five minutes to eat the cup of beans he feels he would have finished the meal
Mr Moran previously ate a 3ft 'Unfinishable Naan' at Omar's Restaurant, in Bradford, West Yorkshire.
That
challenge had gone undefeated for ten years after more than 700
contenders failed to scoff the huge bread in less than 30 minutes.
But Mr Moran, who was rewarded with a holiday to Barcelona, finished it in 22 minutes.
Girlfriend Lindsey Wood, 25, is said to be supportive of her partner's bizarre hobby.
Mr Moran said: 'After the Breaking Badass challenge, she spent the afternoon rubbing my belly and consoling me.
'It's
ironic actually, because she's quite a fussy eater, whereas I'm the
polar opposite in the food stakes. I guess she just enjoys watching me
do something I love.'
He
added: 'Each challenge is difficult in a different way, some are hard
because of the time limit, some because there are different foods
involved; so your approach has to be more tactical.
'My
Achilles heel has to be flavour-fatigue though, which is where you get
to the point that you've eaten so much of one thing, the flavour of it
quite literally causes you to gag.
'This
is why you'll see me order chocolate ice cream to accompany my meal, if
the restaurant offers it. I've dipped everything from nachos to sausage
in ice cream to help.'
It is the
latest of a series of challenges he has undertaken, including the
'Burgerpocalypse' at Huckleberry's Diner in North Yorkshire (left) and
the 'Unfinishable Naan' at Omar's Restaurant, in Bradford (right)
The 29-year-old (pictured attempting
the Slidergedon Challenge at Huckleberry's Diner, north Yorkshire) now
plans to travel to the US to take part in televised eating contests
His
first successful challenge was the Sliderggedon Challenge at
Huckleberry's Diner, north Yorkshire, which saw him devour 12 burgers,
1lb of fries and two pints of milkshake, which he completed in 18
minutes, less than half of the allotted time.
But
despite failing at Longhorn's meat feast contest, the food addict is
determined to continue competing in food challenges across the UK.
His
next gastronomic mission is a nacho eating contest in Skegness and a
hot dog test in Manchester which is has to prepare for in the
forthcoming months.
He's
even planning a trip to America later in the year, where he hopes to
compete at Major League Eating, an organisation that sanctions
professional competitive eating events and television specials.
The
Yorkshireman added: 'I think I attribute my success to the fact that I
practice intermittent fasting and keep fit, but other than that, I
suppose I'm just naturally predisposed to eat a lot in a small time
frame.'
He spend hours in the gym each day trying to burn off all the calories he puts on during the challenges
