The newly appointed Transition Committee Chairman of Jos East local government Area of Plateau State, Mr. Hosea Azi, has been killed.
Azi, was appointed last Thursday to replace the former chairman, Mr. Agwom Daura, who was appointed along with 16 others in July.
Our correspondent gathered that suspected kidnappers had abducted the chairman on Friday night at Miango Road, in Kufang, in Jos South Local Government Area of the state.
The kidnappers were said to be taking him to their hideout when they were involved in an accident at Garaku along Keffi –Abuja Road.
A source said there might have been a scuffle between him and kidnappers before the accident happened.
The number of casualties has not been ascertained, but it was gathered that some of the suspected kidnappers also died while those who sustained injuries were being treated at an unknown hospital.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Abuh Emmanuel, confirmed the incident to our correspondent in Jos.
According to him, “I am waiting for detailed information from the DPO in charge of the area in order to know what transpired.”
