They furiously shut down rumours of an impending divorce last month after the internet went into meltdown over a rumoured marriage split.
And on the eve of their 19th wedding anniversary, the Beckhams put on what appeared to be an extraordinarily loved-up display during a day out in London.
The footballer ace, 44, and his fashion designer wife were spotted cuddling up during a day out in London - with Victoria, whose rep dismissed split rumours a 'crock of s***', wrapping her arms around David and gazing lovingly into his eyes.
But according to leading behavioural experts, there is more to the pictures than meets the eye - with the couple's body language hinting at tension, confusion, hurt and 'conflict'.
Body language expert Judi James told FEMAIL: 'These PDAs seem to be one-sided with David apparently sitting with an impassive-looking back view, while Victoria binds her arms around him lovingly, staring up into his face as though trying to get his attention.'
More to it than meets the eye? Following last month's split rumours, on the eve of their 19th wedding anniversary, the Beckhams put on what appeared to be an extraordinarily loved-up display during a day out in London
Meanwhile, social media commentators have suggested the pair are 'acting out the charade of the loving couple' for the cameras.
The couple's affectionate display comes just weeks after David and Victoria vehemently denied divorce claims, after reports of an impending split began racing around social media.
Jo Milloy, a spokesman for Spice Girl-turned-designer Victoria, told the Daily Mail the gossip was 'absolute nonsense' while former England football captain’s spokesman, Simon Oliveira, dubbed the claims ‘embarrassing and laughable’.
Elsewhere, a spokesman for the couple said: 'There is no statement due, no divorce, and a lot of Chinese whispers and fake social media news.
'This is all very bizarre and an embarrassing waste of time,' he continued, before adding the rumours were ‘a crock of s***'.
The couple first began dating in 1997, before tying the knot in 1999. They share four children, sons Brooklyn, 19, Romeo, 15, and Cruz, 12, and daughter Harper, six.
Claims the couple were planning to divorce circulated on social media last month, prompting high street bookmaker Paddy Power to suspend betting on them separating.
Just days later, the pair set tongues wagging with an extraordinarily loved-up display at London Fashion Week. Here, we decode what the Beckhams' body language really means...
1. David is 'drawing into himself'
More to it than meets the eye? Just weeks after divorce rumours swept social media, the Beckhams put on an extraordinarily loved-up display. In these photos, psychologist Toby Ingham notes that David is leaning away from his wife
Psychologist Toby Ingham tells FEMAIL: 'The individual pictures suggest that Victoria is holding on, and David is looking away and leaning away from her.
'David’s body language appears to suggest tension. He looks tight across his shoulders as though he is withdrawing into himself and away from Victoria.
'Victoria is embracing him, looking up into his face. She appears to be trying to get his attention. His attention appears to be elsewhere.'
2. Victoria 'staring intently' up at her husband
Victoria appears to be looking intently up at her husband here, while David looks straight ahead, Robin Kermode notes. However, David does appear to be leaning towards her with his face and body as his weight is on his right hand side
Body language Robin Kermode, founder of communications coaching consultancy Zone 2 and author of the best-selling book Speak So Your Audience Will Listen, tells FEMAIL: 'David's weight is on his right side, effectively leaning towards Victoria. His head is also slightly turning her way rather than away from her.
'Her arms are relaxed with shoulders down, while her wrists and fingers show no sign of tension. She's looking intently up at him.
'From this still picture, we don't know why David is looking straight ahead. He could well be watching intently himself.'
3. 'No response' as David leans away
The couple are pictured side by side here as they take in the action, but body language expert Robin Kermode notes that David is leaning slightly away from his wife. The images were taken on a scorching day in the capital
'David is leaning away slightly as he sits on the fence, balancing himself with his left hand,' notes Robin.
But the body language expert says there may be a practical explanation for their apparent lack of closeness in this picture: 'Often people don't get too close when it's that hot and sweaty - at least not in public.'
Judi James adds: 'She looks loving and besotted in these photos, but her hands fall back into her pockets when there is apparently no matching response to her encircling embrace.'
4. Victoria's raised jaw betrays 'tension'
Both Robin and Toby detect a hint of tension in this photo, as demonstrated by Victoria's 'slightly raised jaw', tense lip corners and raised shoulders. There is also a 'sense of confusion, hurt and conflict' in Victoria's expression, according to Toby
Robin says: 'There appears to be a little tension between them here. Of course, we don't know what is the reason from a still. Heat has that effect on many people!
'Victoria has a slightly raised jaw and a little tension in the lip corners. Her shoulders are raised more than before. David keeps both his arms firmly away from her.'
Toby adds: 'There is a sense of confusion, hurt and conflict in Victoria’s look. But when we watch the images as a moving sequence the story looks rather different.
'When we see the video as a moving film we get a better sense of the context of the situation. Instead of a set of individual pictures about a marriage in crisis, the film appears to show that the couple are enjoying and absorbed in the day's events and being open about their affection for each other.'
